With the encouragement of my friends Jen and Corey, I've finally taken the plunge and dived into a novel by author Ken Bruen. I reserve the right to insert and jump the order in my TBR stack, at anytime. So, I don't feel bad that I've preempted the next in Craig Johnson's Walt Longmire series. And I'm so glad I listened. In this case, I jumped into my introduction to Irish crime fiction with the first in the Jack Taylor series, The Guards.

Welcome to the world of Jack Taylor!
ReplyDeleteI can see why people praise this writer so. He has me hooked already. Thank you, Cathy, for dropping by and for your comment.
ReplyDeleteYou have so much to look forward to with the Bruen books that I'm actually kind of jealous.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely looking forward to the next of his, Naomi. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteLove your title for this post!
ReplyDeleteI've got to start cracking on Bruen, too. Never read him but have him hollering at me from my TBR pile (feel free to be jealous of me, too, Naomi). Those are some gooood movies on his list.
Of what I've taken in, I'm really glad I finally gave Bruen a read. Yeah, it's a great list of movies, too. Thanks, PCN.
ReplyDeleteI'm also a relative newbie to the Bruen world, but also love it. I recently read Calibre and enjoyed it quite a bit. I'll have to check this one out.
ReplyDeleteI recommend this book series, d_s. Jack Taylor is quite a unique character. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your comment.
ReplyDeleteWelp, you already know how I feel about Bruen. But you have a different narrator than I did for my two. Glad to hear he's good as well. I have THE GUARDS in print, but haven't gotten to it. *sigh* the story of my life! LOL
ReplyDeleteIt seems the Taylor series had two narrators covering them. Gerry O'Brien for The Guards, The Killing of the Tinkers, The Magdalen Martyrs, Priest, and Cross. Michael Deehy did The Dramatist. The last Taylor, Sanctuary, is not out in audiobook, as yet. We'll work on getting you to check out O'Brien ;-). Thank you for the comment and the Ken Bruen recommedation, Jen.
