If There's One Movie for Father's Day...

... for me it is To Kill a Mockingbird. It debuted in 1962 and was adapted from Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize winning 1960 novel of the same name. Horton Foote adapted the material for the screenplay and Robert Mulligan performed the direction.

I am far from the character, but if there is a man and father I'd ever want for, or as a child, or would ever want to be, it is that of Atticus Finch. Happy Father's Day.

  1. one of the 1st dvds I bought. A great character to aspire. Gregory Peck, what a great persona, when he came on the screen you sat up and paid attention. So of course my father days tie in.............. Guns of the Navarone, my Dad's favorite, we watched it many times.

    Thanks

  2. This is on TCM tonight, I'll try to catch it again. When I was young I had a crush on Philip Alford, the boy who played Jem.

  5. It's such a cliche but the film that always makes me wanna call my dad and ask how he's doing is FIELD OF DREAMS. I'm such a sap.   :)

  6. I, too, love Field of Dreams. The setup and the clincher at the end get me every time (even when I know it's coming). Thanks, J.D.
