My Favorite Lines From Favorite Movies Part 3

This is my continuation of an arc I started a short while back, containing some of my all-time favorite lines from the movies I never tire of watching. So, for those times when you need something to say...

Forbidden Planet
"Another one of them new worlds. No beer, no women, no pool parlors, nothin'! Nothin' to do but throw rocks at tin cans, and we gotta bring our own tin cans."
"If we can't convince them it's an accident that we're trying to correct, by any means, we're going to have something on our hands that nobody bargained for... and only a lunatic wants."
Reggie Lambert: "I already know an awful lot of people and until one of them dies I couldn't possibly meet anyone else."
Peter Joshua: "Well, if anyone goes on the critical list, let me know."

Reggie Lampert: "Why do people have to tell lies?"
Peter Joshua: "Usually it's because they want something. They are afraid the truth won't get it for them."
My Favorite Year
[Alan Swann has blundered into the wrong restroom]
Lil: "This is for ladies only!"
Swann: "So is this, mum, but sometimes I have to run a little water through it."
Red River
"There are only two things that are better than a gun: a Swiss watch and a woman from anywhere. Ever had a good... Swiss watch?"
Pulp Fiction
"Jules, if you give that f*ckin' nimrod fifteen hundred dollars, I'm gonna shoot him on general principles."
"Choose our next witticism carefully, Mr. Bond. It may be your last."
The Duelists
"I am going to be killed responsibly, on horseback, as a compliment to the cavalry."
Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
"You can't fight in here, this is the War Room!"
The Third Man
"Don't be so gloomy. After all it's not that awful. Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock. So long Holly."

  1. thats a good one from My Favorite Year

a great quote from a great movie

  2. Auntie Mame:

"Life's a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death!"

    The Killers:

"You see, the only man that's not afraid to die is the man that's dead already."

    Harold and Maude:

Harold: You sure have a way with people.
    Maude: Well, they're my species!

    Vanishing Point:

"And there goes the Challenger, being chased by the blue, blue meanies on wheels. The vicious traffic squad cars are after our lone driver, the last American hero, the electric centaur, the, the demi-god, the super driver of the golden west! Two nasty Nazi cars are close behind the beautiful lone driver. The police numbers are gettin' closer, closer, closer to our soul hero, in his soul mobile, yeah baby! They about to strike. They gonna get him. Smash him. Rape... the last beautiful free soul on this planet."

  3. I love Charade, at least twice a year.

And here's one from The African Queen:
"Nature, Mr. Allnut, is what we are put in this world to rise above."

  4. That is a great movie, and a great bit of dialogue. Thanks, Herb.

  5. As usual, you've added by some great ones yourself, J.D. Thanks, my friend.

  6. Same here. I have to watch the great pairing of Audrey and Cary at least once a year. I just re-watched the recently released disc of The African Queen. Another classic. Thanks, Naomi.

  7. More excellent choices. Most anything from Pulp Fiction makes we laugh, and you've hit on just about my favourite movie quote with those immortal lines from Welles.

  8. Very kind of you to comment, my friend. Thank you, Steve.

  9. Another fine selection - and that little speech by Welles from The Third Man is a touch of pure genius IMO.

  10. Yes, that speech is pure genius by Welles. I had to include that one. Thank you very kindly, Colin.

  11. I Married a Monster from Outer Space:
    Lament to friends:
"He's just not the man I married!"

    (Sorry le0pard13, seems I am playing catch-up...)

  12. Cool Hand Luke:
    Strother Martin to Paul Newman:
"What we've got her is a failure to communicate. Some men you  just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he get it. And I don't like it any more than you men."

  13. Hehe. Good one, Bev. Thanks.

  14. One of those immortal lines from a great film, Bev. Thanks for adding to this.
